We had an amazing day at the zoo!! On the way we listened to the Jungle Book II on CD. It was a perfect lead in to a day with the animals. The zoo has a new interactive parakeet aviary, a new naked mole rat exhibit with a detached playground and they let the lion tamarins out of their enclosure! The weather was perfect for people and animals alike so we were able to see some pretty frisky fellows. The lions were highly vocal as well!
The zoo was a great escape from our home. Our bathrooms and basement are currently under construction. If I hear another buzz saw I will jump out of my skin. Field trips may be my life until things are finished here. Perhaps that is why the zoo seemed a perfect haven and why I was so excited to be there away from the endless noise.
Sorry there are no pictures to share because our camera was sick and may not be up to par yet. I passed up many "Kodak" moments, but I have other things to share.
Rocky noticed two tortoise, one asleep and the other quite active. He kept calling the sleeping one the "mommy" and the active one the "daddy". When I asked him why he said it was because I napped more than Daddy did. (Duh) This may be the reason I indulged in a Starbuck's coffee today.
I've been off of caffeine since December, but our vacation put an end to that. Our Florida adventures were so hot during the day that I indulged in several diet cokes and a coffee with my DH. (Water just didn't do the trick.) Since we've been home, my body has been screaming for caffeine every day. Naps don't suffice. I also pulled down my coffee maker and intend to brew a batch tomorrow. When I have a weekend to sleep through all the debilitating withdrawal effects, I can quit caffeine again and be like the "mommy" tortoise!
Where shall we run off to tomorrow???
