Dog Obesity

Thought I would put in a word or two while M makes dinner tonight!! :-) The others are making some pretty awesome play-doh creations. J is singing very loudly, as usual.

Nothing noteworthy about our school right now. Our testing is finally over so hopefully we can start learning a few things again. We just keep plugging away!

I made several breakfasts this a.m. to prepare for the few weeks we won't have a kitchen in March. We ate one and froze the other two. If I do this for a while we'll be in good shape for when the demolition crew arrives March 3rd. We still have to pick out the cabinet color, counter-tops, paint, faucets, sink, back-splash tile, a few appliances and lights. Our date nights have been at Home Depot lately. This is not the most romantic place, but that's o.k.

Speaking of romance, J and I renewed our marriage vows on St. Valentine's Day at a special Mass at our parish. The WEDs group arranged the event and there was a reception afterwards. We were the only ones in attendance with an infant in tow. They've been having these annual vow renewals for as long as I can remember, but this is the first time we've been able to sneak away to attend. We'll definitely have to go again next year.

Dog Obesity in America News - Cassie was in such sad shape we couldn't bear to watch her suffer anymore. We took her to the vet and asked what could be done to renew the vigor in this precious dog. She has gained another 10 pounds since the last time she was there! For a dog who is supposed to only be 25 pounds that is pretty impressive. She weighs 59 lbs! On an obesity scale of 1-9 she is a 9! She has difficulty getting up and down the stairs as well and just lies around unless it is meal time. Still, we love her very much.

So, she is back on thyroid medicine as the dear dr. promised we would only have to bring her back twice a year for blood work rather than monthly - which would be cost prohibitive. (Wouldn't want to spend more on a dog than we would on a person for health care.) She is also on some type of anti-inflamatory to help her walk around. We are starting to walk her on a leash. She doesn't get very far right now - just a few houses away before she has to rest. We are also really trying to keep her away from the table. I'll update on the progress she makes. Maybe we can get her down to that sleek 25 lbs yet!
