Shelving Books and Advent Fast

Spent 45 min. straightening shelves and shelving our new World Book collection. J immediately tore into another volume searching for the Battle of Midway but never found it as he became engrossed in all the other items along the way. V finished her "Golden Goblet" book just in time as I found "Mara, Daughter of the Nile" behind some old torn apart board games that needed tossing. She read a few chapters before bed. I also managed to organize our homeschool books and school supplies. It is a wonder what I can do when one or two of the little ones should ever take a nap. All of that only took me 45 minutes because that is all the time I had before heading out to pick up the others from choir practice.

Tomorrow is the beginning of the Orthodox Church's 40 day fast in preparation for Christmas. I'm inspired by Katherine Johnson's blog Life in the Onion Dome at http://oniondome.typepad.com/organic_kitchen/ . Since she has made weekly menus with downloadable recipes and a shopping list I figured, why not! Each recipe also has a quote about the virtues of fasting by a saint. Very inspiring. So, we'll be off to Whole Foods Market tomorrow afternoon to purchase a few things I don't already have. The kids especially want to try different types of olives at their olive bar after watching Good Eats.
