My boys all went over to the lake yesterday with our handy dandy inflatable (with lung power) boat. J-Man and DH took turns blowing the thing up, a pretty impressive feat if you ask me. Armed with a few fishing poles, a few sandwiches and water bottles they spent the afternoon just being boys. Apparently the high light of their adventures was when J-Man helped Rocky overcome his fears of the deep dark water by throwing him in (with vest on, of course). After that they all had a great time and came home with large smiles and large appetites.
Our girls spent the afternoon coughing, sniffling, watching television and reading. They ventured out to the backyard for about 15 minutes in the late afternoon, but rain brought them back in.
DH and I read, napped, then read and napped some more. We tried to venture out in search of the top of the water fall but our attempts were unsuccessful. We also had to come in when the storms started rolling in.
All in all it was a good vacation day as we really need the rest more than we need adventure. I'm getting enough adventure from revisiting The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn the Ignatius Critical Edition.
I also went over to see the running nuns. If they can run in full habits with kids from 4 to 12 then I sure can! Very inspiring.
