How to Kill a Creative Spark

While making spaghetti Bronky spilled some of the uncooked noodles on the floor. Rocky set upon picking them up but decided to break them into smaller pieces as he put them in a tupperware container. When he started walking between me and trash can I said, "You can throw those away."

Rocky: "I want to play with them."

The giddy homeschool mother in me blurted out, "You could make words out of them!"

As soon as the words streamed out of my mouth the noodles hit the trash and Rocky ran outside to play.

Me: Heavy sigh.

I did my best to rectify the situation later by breaking up spaghetti and getting a variety of pasta shapes into cups for the little ones to glue onto construction paper in whatever creative style they chose. They had a great time!
