We read the next Tomie dePaola book "On My Way" in his biography series. Again, the littlest children just loved sitting and listening because he writes of things they are familiar, writing about his youth. I was surprised to even find myself crying for joy along with his family around chapter two or three. (Read it yourself to find out why.) The kids thought I was joking at first, but I truly had to put the book down to search for tissues. I still cry every time I read "Clown of God" to the kids.
After we finished "On My Way", they clamoured for more so we began to read "Things Will Never be the Same". We got to about chapter 5 when he described his captivation with the movie "Fantasia" as he saw it for the first time in 1941. We had the movie on hand so the children wanted to see it again through the eyes of Tomie dePaola. We'll finish the book today and get it back to the library before I have to start paying for over due fees. But, I may just have to purchase the series on Amazon so we can revisit these again and again.

I guess I'm going to have to look for these tomorrow when we go to the library. We've only read the one about his art teacher.
