I sent M to the book shelf to pick a new book for me to read. She picked City of God by St. Augustine! I'd read his Confessions about 20 years ago but am even more intrigued as I've developed a fondness for St. Monica and St. Augustine and feel quite close to them. I told M that she could require me to summarize as I go along. I don't want the kids to feel like I require things of them that I wouldn't do myself.
M is reading King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table.
V is reading The Golden Goblet.
J has consumed Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrims and has started reading a book about Paul Revere. There are two books awaiting him at the library to fill in the time gap but I need to pick them up.
E is reading the Old Testament.
It is a bit frustrating that we are all in different periods of time at the same time. Perhaps I can reconcile this by thinking that this must be what Heaven is like - being able to see all times as happening in the present?! Hmmm....
