We did a lot of things around the house today. We moved some furniture. We arranged our furniture in the family room back to its original setting as it was about six months ago. DH is much happier now that the couches are back to where he likes them. I like them that way as well, but sometimes it is good to try something new.
During the summer I had J & T help me move the couches around so that the focal point of the family room would include a prayer table and not just the t.v. When Jim came home he was quite astonished at first glance because he didn't see the couch. "Carol, where's the couch?"
An answer didn't come immediately because I was probably stuffing my face and trying to swallow before speaking so as not to choke. The children were all in the room as well listening to the exchange.
"Carol, Where's the Couch?!" dh exclaimed much louder. Of course, hearing the astonishment in his voice when the couch was merely a few feet away from its original setting made the children roll into hysterics.
I asked him at the time if we couldn't just live with the set up for a while to see if it would grow on us.... It didn't. So, things are as they were before.
I moved an old beat up but much loved coffee table into our sun room. I placed a table cloth over it. Hopefully now it will serve as a place where the children can do some activities during our read alouds. Dh didn't know I had moved it so we went through the same discourse which went something like, "Carol, where's the..." But this time I explained quickly as I didn't have a mouthful of food to chew.
We have a great deal more to do but we are always a work in progress over here. Dh and J took some desks apart and moved them and moved some dressers to different rooms. I worked on making some school manipulatives for the kids' math, ordered books from the library for our upcoming advent reading, fixed the drawers in my bedroom and a bunch of other things.
J will be going back to college in the a.m. (sniff, sniff.)
